DNA sequencing is the process of determining the precise order of nucleotides within a DNA molecule.

During DNA sequencing, the bases of a small fragment of DNA are sequentially identified from signals emitted as each fragment is re-synthesized from a DNA template strand.

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) extends this process across millions of reactions in a massively parallel fashion enabling rapid sequencing of large DNA stretches spanning entire genomes, producing hundreds of gigabases of data in a single sequencing run.

Key DNA Sequencing Applications

  • Access the broadest range of DNA sequencing applications, including whole-genome sequencing, targeted resequencing, de novo sequencing, amplicon sequencing, SNP discovery, identification of copy number variations, and chromosomal abnormality analysis. Key applications include:
  • Whole-genome sequencing uses DNA sequencing to characterize entire genomes of any size and complexity.
  • Targeted resequencing enables sequencing of exomes, specific genes, or other genomic regions of interest.
  • De novo sequencing involves DNA sequencing and assembly of novel genomes.
