Why RSS is useful? BioPortfolio's RSS feeds are an easy way for scientists, investors and other interested parties to keep track on the latest biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life science news.  Users of the BioPortfolio new feeds can view them along side their other RSS feeds, in their browsers, on their mobile phones, on their Search Engine Home page, other internet or intranet pages.. 

How do I start using BioPortfolio's RSS feeds? Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari automatically check for RSS feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an RSS icon when they find one.  If you click on the RSS icon you can subscribe to the feed in various ways, including by dragging the URL of the feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.   See below on how you can:

Can I make my own targeted feeds from BioPortfolio? Yes, it is possible to create your own bespoke news feeds, by using either the BioPortfolio BioNews search engine. or by editing a simple URL expression:

  • Using the BioNews Search Engine:  The first step is to choose a search term, and type it into the search engine as normal.  When your search results load, then click the RSS icon to view your new results, and if they accurately reflect the topic you have chosen you can now use the subscribe / orange feeds button to add the selection to your news reader, or to your website.

  • Create your own RSS Topic: To create your own bespoke RSS news topic use the following expression and add your own keyword(s):

Using BioPortfolio News feeds on your site: If you run your own website, you can display the latest headlines from BioPortfolio's BioNews services on your own site using RSS.  BioPortfolio's BioNews is updated every 15 minutes, so inclusion on your website will provide a continuous stream of the latest news resulting in greater site content, traffic and user retention.  To view further information we have provided further details and links to sample JavaScript code - see Cancer or HIV/AIDS.

We encourage the use of BioPortfolio News feeds as part of your website design, however, we do require that the proper format and attribution is used when BioPortfolio News content appears. The attribution text should read "BioPortfolio News" or "bioportfolio.com" as appropriate. How do I get a news reader? There is a range of different news readers available and new versions are appearing all the time.  Different news readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that will work with your computer - select below:
